Casa Fontana
Casa Fontana is a two-bedroom stone farmhouse with calming plaster walls and a grand fireplace. The house is ensconced in an olive tree valley overlooking the last gathering point of the Tiber before it flows into Rome. A multi-use studio space serves as space for training and art. The design is contemporary and traditional at once, with clean lines and natural plaster walls.
A short walk into the woods is the Santa Illuminata monastery, with a curative grotto outside, where San Francesco slept. Birds fly up the valley of olives to Guardea’s two castles, Poggio and Vecchia, and ancient neighboring towns have singular restaurants and countrysides.
Region
Umbria is Italy’s green heart: ancient hill towns, winding roads, dappled light, olives and grapes. Rome and Tuscany are accessible in an hour or two, as are famous beaches like Porto Ercole. Situated in lush countrysides, Umbria’s ancient towns are full of history, restaurants, and culture. Architectural attractions abound, including Sacro Bosco, La Scarzuola, castles and cathedrals.
